Flowerhill Equestrian Centre was purchased in 1929 by
Oliver Walsh's grandfather - John 'Thresher' Walsh. He was so called
because of the Threshing machines he hired and sold. John farmed and bred Irish
Sport Horses, which were used in farming until the middle of the last century when
tractor use became feasible and more practical. Oliver continues the family interest
in the breeding of the Irish Sport Horse. He travels both to Europe and America forging
links with Equestrian based people and organisations. As a direct result of this
lineage and wide experience, Oliver is a senior advisor to regional
tourist boards and
committees. He is widely acknowledged as an Equestrian Ambassador of Ireland. Oliver hosted
the Irish tourist board desk in Sweden at Bord Failtes invitation, a position he was well
equipped for through his agro tourist and Equestrian business experience. He is involved at
local level in hunts, tourism, breeding and training.
Currently Oliver is Hunts man of the
County Roscommon Hounds.
